Who comes up with these rules…. the more complicated they make things the more people aren’t going to follow them… look at the rules for the restaurants… nightmare for the guards to implement.

@great gael of Eire: It is the restaurants job to implement the regulations and to protect their customers! If they don’t do this then then they deserve to be closed – fulltime!

Same for pubs when they open. If they can’t abide by the regulations then stay closed. Simple!

Government would want to grow a pair and tell nphet to do one. If we woke up in the morning and the powers that be decided they wanted to eradicate road fatalities, we’d all be doing 25 kph on the M50 by midday. Logic flew out the window some time ago and has no intention of returning any time soon. This strategy isn’t working and is only annoying the people it’s meant to protect, which in turn will feed into non compliance thus prolonging all of this. Where’s the balance? I’m buggered if I can find it lately.

Great so we’re going to be nannied. Again, instead of giving the owners the responsibility to manage their business correctly, they are being forced to meet made up rules. The guidelines should be there to insure distancing etc, nothing else.

@Lad: After a lifetime of being jammed like a sardine into sauna-like Dublin pubs where you have to bellow to be heard by the person 6 inches from you, I don’t think pub owners *can* be trusted to implement social distancing without clear, enforceable legal guidelines. Half of any weekend evening is spent finding a pub with room to stand, then slowly carving a territory out of the surrounding flesh mountain that’s large enough to hold your group. Somewhere a novel coronavirus is doing cartwheels with anticipation.

City pubs operate on a drinker-per-square-foot basis, they need clear rules and enforcement if they’re going to change.

So many smaller pubs only have bars and no seating areas otherwise, are they to remain shut?. They really are just making things up as they go along and splitting hairs with rules within rules. Its beyond the joke at this stage. They should be just let open at least to see how we get on.

Nightclubs will probably remain closed and bars clearing at 11.30 at weekends will have people looking to go somewhere else and onto house parties.

11.30pm we need babysitting? 12.30 was fine there no nightclubs open! The government really sucks the life of it. Can see many rural pubs not opening here, the measures will require too much effort.

@Olan Marten: Pubs were never going to be allowed to open without social distancing. It just couldn’t happen. Why are we in queues 2m apart to get into supermarkets if everyone can cosy up in pubs?

Thats the whole point. Make it as difficult, complicated and uncomfortable as possible and people wont be bothered going out and publicans will break rules and pubs will be opening and closing quicker than an umbrella on a showery day. Everyone will get fed up and pubs will close again. But, hey, not Governments fault, they didnt stop them opening. I think its mad to open anyway, a few drinks in and no one will know what 2mtrs are and will forget not to mix and to wear facemasks.

@Llewey Byrne: Have you been living under a rock all year? There’s no sense in pretending that an indoor gathering isn’t how the virus spreads. You can’t close the doors on a big crowd, pour drinks and pretend it’s not happening.

Either open them or keep them closed but don’t bother wasting our time and the salaries we pay you on making up more bs rules that nobody will follow. I’m sick of reporting the same establishments to the department of health (who don’t care about repeat offenders) and the Gardaí (who have enough to do and should not be policing their local establishments).

Just get on with it before there is total non compliance.
Get Gardai to call into every pub for 5 minutes every night for presence and compliance instead of sitting in the bloody station or a car.

In 2016 we celebrated the rise from 1916 what brave Irish men and women done for this country.

2020 in a hundred years from now we look back and laugh at what has become of this country.

    Pandemic Rules for coronavirus :

(1)No pubs open unless you have a sandwich in your hand (PMSL)
(2)A of license is a essential (PMSL)
(3)If your not out of the pub at 11:30 coronavirus will kill you 11:31 (PMSL)
    Should I continue??

What a laughing stock this country has become seriously at least in a 100 years time when there sitting beside each other in the (PUB) they are going to be pissing themselves because we actually went along with it.
