Abbeyleix café helps ease bus delay with free hot drinks

Bus driver Francis Donoher says he was taken aback at the generosity of the cafe which gave him and his passengers free tea, coffee and hot chocolate as they waited for the road to clear.

BUS ÉIREANN driver Francis Donoher has been in touch with TheJournal.ie to express his gratitude to the Co Laois café which gave him and his passengers complimentary hot drinks as they incurred a one-hour delay in their journey.

A crash in Abbeyleix, Co Laois, meant that the Dublin to Cork service was held up in the town for an hour.

Donoher said that he pulled in off the road to allow people step off the bus for a break, when out ahead “a chap arrived in the distance” with a tray of coffees from the Gallic Kitchen.

After distributing what he had among the passengers, he then took orders for teas, coffees and hot chocolates before returning shortly afterwards with the drinks.
