TWO WILD ELEPHANTS have gone on a rampage through the southern Indian city of Mysore, killing at least one person.
Officials from the state of Karnataka say that the animals wandered into the city centre from a forest about 35km away and began to wreak havoc, the BBC reports.
One 55-year-old man was trampled to death during the commotion. Several others were injured, the Telegraph reports.
Forest rangers managed to tranquilise the two elephants, but a further two are still believed to be at large on the outskirts of the city.
One official said that the animals had come to the city in search of food and shelter because of unregulated human encroachment into their natural habitat, AFP reports.
