Small child found hidden in plane passenger's carry-on luggage

The woman placed the child at her feet under a blanket – but the girl was discovered when she needed to go to the toilet.

A WOMAN WHO flew into Paris from Istanbul this week was found to have hidden a four-year-old girl in a bag on the plane, Air France has confirmed.

The airline said the child, travelling without a ticket, was discovered on board the flight on Monday night “hidden inside a bag”.

A source at Charles de Gaulle Airport said the woman was a resident of France who was in the process of adopting the child who was from Haiti.

“She was apparently in the transit zone in Istanbul, and had crossed the customs checkpoint with the child, when she was prevented from boarding a flight with her,” said the source.

The woman then “decided to hide the child in a bag to get aboard another flight, after buying a new ticket.

“Once on board, she placed the child at her feet, under a blanket, but the girl needed to go to the toilet and was noticed by other passengers,” the source added.

Air France said it notified French authorities and the woman was taken into custody upon landing, but prosecutors decided not to press charges.

She and the girl were however being held at the airport while authorities investigate the case.

She must have taken her out of the bag just before the X-Ray machines, walked her through the metal detector, and then put her back in the bag before boarding.

You need a boarding pass to get through security generally though.

Not so Arian…think of Dublin airport…you need a boarding pas to get into the security checkpoint queue…but the child could have been taken out of the bag then and before the bag was scanned.

I’ve transited through Istanbul. You land on one flight and don’t see security again. She could have had a ticket for her arriving into Istanbul but only one for herself leaving. Dumped her clothes and stuffed the kid in the bag!

The last time I travelled from Istanbul to Paris, there was practically zero security. We actually joked that we could have carried a goat in to the plane and nobody would have stopped us. Considering the checks I have to do going anywhere out of Ireland, it was incredible that there were absolutleu no checks on the Paris side. I’m not kidding – it was basically an open gate when you arrived. How the feck does a non EU country have open access into the heart of Europe…

Unless this has been updated, it says how she got through security. She walked through with boarding cards the purchased flights for a different airline

Adoption? I doubt it. The child was being trafficked, for what purpose we can only guess.

Whatever you’re having yourself, Boganity. I’m sure it’s the custom with all loving adoptive parents to treat their precious child like a smuggled chihuahua.

    A child is one thing.

I have an ultra dangerous and lethal trousers belt, with an actual buckle, incredibly dangerous medium high heeled shoes and a metal watch which spooks security in a big way. I have to remove my belt, shoes and metal watch whilst the security staff cower in fear.

I can only imagine how many millions of lives are saved annually by these security measures.
