€4,000 reward offered after dead dolphin pictured at Cork student party

Pictures circulated online of Cork students dancing with what appears to be a dead dolphin.

ANIMAL ACTIVISTS HAVE put up a €4,000 reward for anyone with information on the identities of the men filmed dancing around student accommodation with what appears to be a dead dolphin.

The images appeared online two days ago and were met with disgust by most who saw them.

The pictures were taken in the Parchment Square student accommodation complex in Cork which is close to the Cork Institute of Technology.

It is understood the dolphin was brought to the accommodation while a party was going on. The animal was also thrown out of a window during the gathering.

Captain Paul Watson of The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society said what the young men were pictured doing was illegal and he wants to know their identities so he can report them to the gardaí.

Speaking on 96FM’s Opinion Line with PJ Coogan, Watson said: “Well, first of all it’s a crime. Anyone who hurts or possesses protected marine wildlife is in violation of the law. They should not have touched it or moved it. ”

Watson has contacted a number of government agencies in relation to what happened by has yet to get a response.
