Man has part of his ear bitten off during dancefloor scuffle

Police in Belfast are searching for the suspect, who fled the scene with a woman.

THE PSNI IS appealing for witnesses after a serious assault on a man in a licensed premises in Belfast last night.

Just before midnight, a man in his 30s “had part of his ear bitten off during an altercation on the dance floor”, Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said.

The incident occurred in the city centre, just off Amelia Street.

McCallum described the suspect as a well-built white man in his 30s who is around 5ft 8in tall with short dark hair.

The suspect has a tattoo on his neck, and was wearing a tight t-shirt.

He said: “The suspect is believed to have left the premises in a taxi outside James Street South following the incident, with a female.”

Any witnesses to the altercation are urged to contact Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch, quoting reference 1529 of 20/08/17.
