I’m just glad to hear that the resident trolls entire account catalog has been blocked from source IP address. This will make The Journal comments section a nicer place to visit.

I’m only surprised that some po faced puritan type is not campaigning to have April Fools Day pranks banned, as they are bound to upset someone or other
And to all those who like me call today their birthday – have a good one. The best thing is – it’s a date everyone remembers !!!

    Our government April Fool’s:

The cabinet was updated on the plans by Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan. While Ministers were told on Tuesday that the cost to the State would increase in the short term due to the impact of introducing a second “parallel system” as part of the pact, the indicative future cost could fall from about €123,000 per applicant to just under €50,000 and just to put in on context:

In 2024, Ireland’s expenditure on accommodating international protection applicants, commonly referred to as Direct Provision, experienced a significant increase. By October 11, 2024, the state had spent approximately €748.87 million, averaging €2.63 million per day. If this spending rate continued for the remainder of the year, the total expenditure for 2024 would be projected around €960 million.
    Oireachtas

This marks a substantial rise compared to previous years:

    2023: €651.75 million

    2022: €356.55 million

    2021: €190.86 million

In fairness that chocolate mint toothpaste could conceivably be a new product. I could see that having a novelty factor. I mean it’s fairly close to mint toothpaste. Needs to be a bit more daring, like bacon toothpaste to really make anyone falling for it feel like a jackass. But then again it’s really a marketing ply. Speaking of which I thought the paints one was good.
