Teenager convicted of Dublin manslaughter

Jury spent less than three hours deliberating verdict before finding Conor Duffy, 18, guilty of the manslaughter of Aidan O’Kane, 50.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD HAS BEEN convicted of the manslaughter of 50-year-old Aidan O’Kane in Dublin in 2008.

The jury deliberated for less than three hours and found Conor Duffy not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter.

O’Kane was shot in the stomach in December 2008 after he and his son approached a group of youths they suspected had thrown eggs at their home.

His son had testified that he believed Conor Duffy and his father exchanged words before the fatal shot was fired and said the youth then fled the scene.

RTÉ’s Paul Reynolds told the Six One News that Duffy has been found guilty on three other charges, including the unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
