MASKED BURGLARS ENTERED the homes of two elderly women in separate incidents in Co. Wexford last night.
The aggravated burglaries took place in the early hours of this morning at the homes of both women who live alone.
In the first incident a number of masked men, believed to be three, entered the home of the woman in Ramsgrange before searching the house and stealing a small amount of property.
Four men are believed to have been involved in the second incident when they entered the house of another elderly woman in nearby Fethard-on-Sea and took the keys to her car which was later found burnt out a short distance away.
No injuries were sustained in either incident according to Gardaí but small amounts of property were stolen in both.
Investigating Gardaí are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured saloon car which was seen in the Ramsgrange and Fethard-on- Sea areas in the early hours of this morning 2 August.

Still don’t understand why such a small number of elderly people currently use Panic Buttons on their phones by Dial4Help.ie. It is much quicker to get response from your next door neighbour or relatives to perform an appropriate action rather than waiting for Gardai to come and investigate when it’s too late (No disrespect to Gardai though).

I disagree. Stocks? Out the back and shoot the pondlife. Stocks are soooo middle ages.
Pill, the product was created to help such vulnerable and only covers its costs! The rest goes to charities. This is why it deserves to be highlighted in such way.

Give the gardai a little autonomy with regard to beatings and knee-capping those they know deserve it…
It takes a certain kind of low life to prey on the elderly I hope karma comes back to these in the form of an out of control truck

This disease was predicted – some younger welfare recipients don’t understand that they are supposed to move to another country. The laws these people live by are not ours.
Pardon my ignorance, but since when did being on the dole turn people into thieving skumbags? There’s a big difference between the permanent welfare class and those who actually can’t find work. I doubt that Australia are offering visas to vermin like these.

I think the argument goes something like, Poverty creates vermin like these. Keep people poor long enough and crime begins to rise. Keep young people poor long enough and exclude them from social participation and pretty soon they’ll form their own community.
These acts are not the work of members of the communities of those local areas. Burnt out cars indicate immaturity.
Ah but Paul, even when employed meant was at essentially 100%, the same detritus were claiming dole, robbing the elderly and biting out cars. Take the example of the elderly shop keeper in Charlestown, Co. Mayo, hole invaded, robbed and killed over a decade ago.
Filth like these guys will be unemployed of course, bit it isn’t unemployment that’s turned them to crime, it’s a conscious choice they’ve made, nothing else. With over 400,000 people in the live register it’s a little rock to cast those kind of opinions around.
You know what the real solution is? Cut off welfare for the permanent dole class and give criminals, in particular violent criminals a proper sentence.
I’ve often said we need to bring back public hangings and not just for murder.
This is what happens when there is no guards left in the country. There are elderly people in my rural area that are I’m sure very frightened, especially those who live alone. Our nearest guard station is 30/35 minutes drive away, how are people meant to feel safe!
