AN ELDERLY MAN was killed yesterday evening in Monaghan when a car and a truck collided.
Gardaí at Carrickmacross are investigating the fatal road traffic collision which happened at Mount Lodge Demesne on the main Rockcorry to Shercock Road at around 5pm.
The male driver of the car was the only occupant and his body has been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a full post-mortem examination will take.
The male driver and male passenger of the truck were uninjured.
The road is closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision and is not expected to reopen until later this morning.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact Carrickmacross Garda station on 042 9690190, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

So NAMA is operating at approx €1 billion loss then….right?
From my understanding NAMA was set up to minimise losses so this has to be good news or am I missing the point? n
I think my point was that the head line suggests that Nama are in profit by €247 million , when they lost 6 times that amount last year. Misleading much? Why so many red down thumbs for pointing that anomaly out? Seanie, fingers and Bertie and the boys must be online today…
The only real important figure is the pre tax profit of €11,000,000 which is a start!!! Pre tax profit is due to tax credits from previous losses according to the last word on today fm
