Adam’s Auctioneers are to conduct the sale next Tuesday evening under the instruction of IBRC’s liquidators KPMG.  Over 130 lots of paintings, sculptures and prints  are to be put on sale with price estimates of between €20 all the way up to €12,000. The collection was amassed over a number of years, and was displayed in Anglo’s various public and private offices.

Amongst the highlights of the collection are canvases by Dublin artist Felim Egan whose works are on display in the atrium in the National Gallery of Ireland and in many private and corporate collections.

The late Louis le Brocquy also features with his 1997 watercolour ‘Being’ due to go under the hammer with a €5,000 valuation.

Managing director at Adam’s James O’Halloran said that the auction house has already had a number of enquiries from regular collectors about some of the well-know works ahead of viewings beginning on Sunday.

O’Halloran explained that there are no specifics about which offices each piece painting hung or indeed if there if they were on display at all. He added that although the highlights of the auction are undoubtedly the rare canvases there are many cheaper items included:

To be honest with you, everything had been storage before we received them. A lot of the smaller things, the prints for example  are there because the liquidators were keen to dispose of as much of possible.

The auction is due to take place on Tuesday 3 September in Adam’s Auctioneers on St Stephen’s Green with details of the entire catalogue and viewing times available here.

Just looked at the catalogue and thought the same thing…where is the good art? This is hardly the best of their portfolio although there are some good names scattered in there..So back to the question where is the good art gone and why is it not available for the auction?

I think that’s supposed to be the “salmon of knowledge”, displayed by anglo as a metaphor to the genius of fitzer and co, egotistical tw*ts!

In the last picture, why does the salmon have 4 tails? Probably just a really bad attempt at making the fish look like it’s moving.

The second one looks like a really bad tiling job.

Got the catalogue in the post this morning, have just gone through it, some great works and some at great prices…. My tip ( not that you will heed it) get yourself a Felim Egan… And the Bewicks at 3k, for nothing. Gallery prices for them between 10 and 15 k .
