AN IMPROVISED BOMB found outside a derelict house in the west Dublin suburb of Drimnagh this afternoon has been disabled by the army bomb squad.
Defence Forces experts were deployed to the scene at Sperrin Road after they were alerted to the incident by gardaí, and arrived at around 1pm.
Traffic restrictions had been put in place by gardaí in advance of their arrival, and a number of houses nearby evacuated.
According to the Defence Forces, the device was rendered safe where it was found, without the need for a controlled explosion. The scene was declared safe at 2.15 pm.
The device has since been taken to a safe military location for forensic tests, and all component parts will later be handed over to investigating gardaí.
Today’s was the 168th call out of 2013 for the army bomb squad. 59 viable explosive devices have been dealt with so far this year.

Leslie I had someone 2 months ago who set up an E Mail address in my name he was posting derogatory and libelous comments in my name. I complained to the editor and also went to the cops. Cops told me he was in contravention of the communication act and therefore leaving himself open to criminal charges. I don’t know if it was the editor or the cops who put the shits up him but it stopped. Someone decides they don’t like u cos of ur posted opinions and tries to affect u this way. Nameless and spineless mongrels. I ve since been told how to actually trace them so if it starts again I ll be door stepping them just before the cops do! … Regards Gerry

This particular knob trolls under at least 6 different names. He s using 3 on this thread . Not sure something can be done in ur case cos the name he set up to mimic u isn’t identical to yours. But the malicious intent is there. Imagine having the warped thought processes to go to the bother of doing it. A detective in Rathfarnham station assured me the dog is breaking the law and had all the details of it. But it didn’t happen since. But it’s the one sad a**ehole all the time .
