Pat Kenny will kick off his Newstalk show tomorrow morning, while Seán O’Rourke will get to grips with Kenny’s old slot on RTÉ Radio One. And, from Wednesday, Ivan Yates will reunite with Chris Donoghue for Newstalk Breakfast.
It’s all change – but where will your dial go? Today, we’d like to know: What radio station will you tune into next week?

Yeah he is a prat. I think D’arcy is every bit as bad and far more condescending. He seems to think he’s in charge of 18-35 year olds minds in Ireland… He was good to listen to 10 years ago before he was so bitter- i blame the wife.
If anything, I reckon she’s a calming influence on him! Yes, he used to be a lot more fun. Guess he’s just middle-aged now, but he still thinks he’s the voice of youf.

Dear Journal, it appears to me that you want to see if listeners will change to newstalk for pat kenny……why don’t you ask that question directly instead of going around the houses. We have more radio stations in ireland that newstalk and rte……
They are trying to figure out whether the 3 week long love fest has influenced people to tune in to pat. Id say they Were paid by newstalk to promote pat and are trying to figure out their influence so they can use it as a marketing tool to attract further revenue. that’s my tuppence.
Thanks be to God I have work to go to and won’t have to make such a life changing decision. But every time I hear Kenny or Darcy I put on a CD. I do have some recordings of Kenny asking questions and Darcy giving opinions that I put on if I can’t sleep.

Nova, at least guaranteed no boy bands or pop. Best of an overly shite radio market.
Nova promised much but I’m now tired of their constantly recycled playlist. Very frequently switch to Nova to hear some rock but end up hearing Rod Stewart for umpteen time. Delighted Ivan is back on Newstalk.

I used to listen to either Radio 1 or Newstalk for about ten to twelve hours a day. Then I discovered podcasts. Now I listen to neither.

Last week a woman from Ipsos came to the house doing a survey on radio listenership. I told her I’d rather nail my head to the door than listen to I radio.

The Journal has lost a lot of credibility during this media campaign for Newstalk. Not a single reply by the staff to the comments on the articles either.
I’ll certainly be listening to Sean O’Rourke as he’s a great interviewer on TWIP and News at One, and I’ll give The Plank a listen on Newstalk.
My listening is very fragmented as after Morning Ireland I only hear a few mins here and there of the morning shows driving on my work rounds.
I switch over to Newstalk after WLRFM Death Notices at noon, then News at One, bits of Liveline if I can bear it, love Moncrieff on NT, back to Drivetime as Hooky gives me ire. Late Debate is great if I’m around.
After midnight BBC Radio 4 is the business and after the Shipping Forecast and Sailing By it’s over to BBC World Service through the night. Can’t sleep without the radio on.

They are indeed – 9am, 12 noon and 6pm. Must-listen radio if you’re a PHN in the country as I am – it’s a way to keep on top of things. They’re online as well, equally useful. I’m sure lotsa local radio stations do them:)
Ireland needs a new independent current affairs radio station. With new vibrant journalists covering home and world news. I will be tuning out of Newstalk and would not listen to RTE.

I think two of the best stations on air are 96 FM and 4 FM. Sometimes you need to get away from all the negative news and relax with some great music which these stations offer.There is to much Hype about who is on radio one or news talk thank God we have a variety of radio stations.

96 FM is a cork Local Station and 4 FM. is broadcast around the country. They are both independent radio stations.
Would use ever change the tune and quit the pat Kenny talk ffs.

Couldn’t listen to newstalk, any radio station willing to pay Sean Moncrieff money is not worth listening to in any way shape or form.
As a long term listener to RTE I’m on the look out for a station I can listen to where I don’t have to conclude that the awful boring presenter must have got the job because he/she is ‘good in bed’

Generally only listen to soundcloud podcasts by likes of Brian O’Connell or Henry McKean these days unless it’s Sports Radio such as Second Captains, Off the Ball or 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live!
Occasionally a gem such as Bruce Jones interview will crop up on Today FM or BBC Radio 5 though so well worth following them on Twitter.
As for NT or Radio 1 in morning? No thanks.
Used listen to Ray D’Arcy on Today FM in Early 00s. Then he got all metrosexual & under the thumb due to working with a team of ladies.
He’s since gone on to become an insufferable bore!
Not a fan of either but based on Radio 1′s listenership at that time, which is three times Newstalk’s, I think your results are more reflective of the demographics of the people who chose to vote in your polls and comment on your stories. Highland for me.

Can only get radio one and 2fm in work, wouldn’t listen to Tubridy if you paid me so it’ll be Sean O’Rourke, though I’m not a huge fan. Wouldn’t listen to Denis O’Brien radio even if I could pick it up. Tune In and Google Play Music once I’m outside.
