Is this the end? British PM David Cameron debuts his glasses

It’s seen as a big deal in Britain.

A NUMBER OF political commenters across the water believe there was a sign today from 10 Downing Street that David Cameron’s career could be about to hit a speedbump.

And, no, it was nothing to do with the high-stakes crisis in Syria or tonight’s UN Security Council meeting.

It was a matter of spectacles.

Actual spectacles.

The British Prime Minister wore a pair of glasses into the House of Commons for the first time today.

image

But the Conservative leader told his Twitter followers that he has actually been using the glasses since June and today was just their first public appearance.

image

His reluctance to debut the new accessory was reminiscent of his predecessor’s battle with his eyesight and THAT did not go unnoticed.

The Guardian called Tony Blair’s first appearance in glasses as a “watershed moment” in his career, while another tweeter had no reluctance in calling it “the beginning of the end”.

image

Again, not to dissimilar to Blair who admitted to feeling “self conscious” about the change back in 1999, The Telegraph pointed out that Cameron “appeared to take them off when the cameras were pointing towards him, then put them back on when they were filming MPs”.

It is not the first time that Cameron’s eyewear has received attention. Remember the wraparounds of Wimbledon 2013?

What do you think? Would you think it is noteworthy if Enda Kenny pulled on a pair of glasses in the Dáil chambers?

Crying spells may also be a symptom of depression or bi-polar disorder so maybe before making a public joke of his wife he might have wanted to check that out

Whatever the reason for the crying her husband is meant to support and help. Not demean his wife with a list to ridicule her.

It was a cute story. A man sharing the silly things his wife laughs at. In no way demeaning. Stop trying to turn funny story into something dark

My wife cries a lot and seems to always say it is PMS. She goes on about how I have to understand and accept her PMS.
I agree on equal rights but no matter what sex you are but random mood swings in work is hard to accept.
Can predict responses but there is a duplicity in what she is saying. It isn’t a huge issue most of the time.
