PIC: The Taoiseach tried on Google Glasses today

Enda Kenny looked delighted with his new specs today…

“THE BEST SMALL country in the world in which to wear totally cool and snazzy glasses,” the Taoiseach might have said as he tried out Google Glass earlier today.

Enda Kenny got a demonstration of Google Glass, the tech giant’s innovative and still to be released smart glasses, at Google headquarters in Dublin earlier.

We’re not sure yet what the Taoiseach made of them but we do know that his government is considering banning drivers from wearing them when the product goes on general sale next year, as we revealed last month.

The new wearable technology is currently being trialed by Google with a small number of developers testing the glasses which provide smartphone-like information in handsfree format via voice commands.

It’s a no-brainer banning drivers from wearing these. They sound great but not behind the wheel of a car!

That’s a thoughtless comment. Maybe we should ban drivers using their smart phone for GPS nav too. Of course inappropriate use such as reading fb updates should be prevented but such tech could also act as a drivers aid too. A bit of thought before going about banning things.

I personally think Enda Kenny is a bit of a wet but he is a member of the Government that has taken the very hard and necessary steps to get the country back on its feet.

There was no alternative other than default. None.

Spouting populist rubbish from the opposition benches is easy. The tough actions the Government
has taken will very likely be at the cost of a lot of their political careers but I would bet my kidneys that the next Government will be mainstream.

I can’t make an offer , the legal position is very clear and unambiguous; We have to follow norway’s example of Taxation ; When an anomoloy in the law is highlighted , or a constitutional breach is highlighted , then the court’s must refer to “best international practice ” . So rather than having 50% royalties the courts must now impose a 78% Royalty on them.
My offer to the oil companies would be to offer the following advice ; Take the initiative and re-establish the 50% Royalties before it’s too late !
It is a win win for everyone . the government must establish guaranteed supply and ring fence our ownership.
The reason for this is because the irish are generous to a fault which is balanced by a thirst for vengeance that is insatiable when a thief is found to be taking their stuff ; Padraig Nally being a perfect example !
That’s why the law is largely ignored in Ireland because when push comes to shove as in the case of turf-cutting the turf will be cut regardless of “law” simply because the turf is our “shit “.
Or to put it another way , the reason a famous person feels so comfortable in Ireland is because generally speaking we don’t look up or down at anyone we look them in the eye ! That’s how you know if they are sleeveens or not ; look at the picture on here a day or two ago , Mr. Kenny was being spoken to by that lady who lost her husband over the Priory hall incident and he was looking at the camera ignoring her ; that screams sleeveen to me .
The oil companies are doing the same thing and I know how and so do you , or at least you should.
So Oil companies do the right thing or loose everything is my offer of advice for no other reason that I am Irish and our natural resources are OUR communal property , we will share but we will not allow it to be stolen for britain , Holland or corporations because we are the best saboteurs on the planet .
I won’t do anything about it merely supply honest information , I have enough ; do the residents of Priory Hall have enough respect ?
That’s my opinion , I will be proven right or wrong in time , but I know Ireland inside out, because while I was teaching I listened to her children and all children reveal the attitudes of their parents.
I can afford to be wrong but if the oil companies are wrong or if they are found to be lying then they loose everything . I will merely look on to see if I’m right or wrong !
The british got away with the famine because
    1. They had all the guns
    2. Ireland was an information vacuum at the time ; no internet , no education ,
That has all changed ! Austerity sharpens pen sword and mind ; Ireland is sufficient in all three ! More than sufficient and highly, highly efficient as well !
Or as we say ; ” Just try us !” Che Guevara was Lynch from Galway ;never forget that ; check out his last words ; spoken in Spanish but Iirsh to the core ! We can’t help it , it’s just the way we are !

If you don’t believe me go to a church on Sunday , the Catholic Church were the masters of it , how are their takings now and more importantly who goes to confession now ?

It would be greater if he read the following extracts from the constitution with regard our natural resources and adhered to his duty under article 9.3 in my learned opinion…I could be wrong …….

    Article 10
    1. All natural resources, including the air and all forms of potential energy, within the jurisdiction of the Parliament and Government established by this Constitution and all royalties and franchises within that jurisdiction belong to the State subject to all estates and interests therein for the time being lawfully vested in any person or body.
    2. All land and all mines, minerals and waters which belonged to Saorstát Éireann immediately before the coming into operation of this Constitution belong to the State to the same extent as they then belonged to Saorstát Éireann.
    3. Provision may be made by law for the management of the property which belongs to the State by virtue of this Article and for the control of the alienation, whether temporary or permanent, of that property.
    4. Provision may also be made by law for the management of land, mines, minerals and waters acquired by the State after the coming into operation of this Constitution and for the control of the alienation, whether temporary or permanent, of the land, mines, minerals and waters so acquired.
    Article 15
    4. 1° The Oireachtas shall not enact any law which is in any respect repugnant to this Constitution or any provision thereof.
2° Every law enacted by the Oireachtas which is in any respect repugnant to this Constitution or to any provision thereof, shall, but to the extent only of such repugnancy, be invalid.
    Article 45
    2. The State shall, in particular, direct its policy towards securing:
    i. That the citizens (all of whom, men and women equally, have the right to an adequate means of livelihood) may through their occupations find the means of making reasonable provision for their domestic needs.
ii. That the ownership and control of the material resources of the community may be so distributed amongst private individuals and the various classes as best to subserve the common good.
iii. That, especially, the operation of free competition shall not be allowed so to develop as to result in the concentration of the ownership or control of essential commodities in a few individuals to the common detriment.
iv. That in what pertains to the control of credit the constant and predominant aim shall be the welfare of the people as a whole.
    v. That there may be established on the land in economic security as many families as in the circumstances shall be practicable.
    3. 1° The State shall favour and, where necessary, supplement private initiative in industry and commerce.
2° The State shall endeavour to secure that private enterprise shall be so conducted as to ensure reasonable efficiency in the production and distribution of goods and as to protect the public against unjust exploitation.

I like “Unjust exploitation” ;excellent term !
