More than half of all households in Ireland have broadband

A report published today finds 65 per cent of Irish homes have access to broadband.

AN ESTIMATED 65 per cent of homes in Ireland have broadband, whether it be fixed or mobile.

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) quarterly report finds that fixed broadband is on the increase, but that both fixed and mobile subscriptions increased 0.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Broadband speeds

The report found that 37.5 per cent of all fixed broadband subscriptions were equal or greater than 10 Mbps up 7.4 per cent from 30.1 per cent since the last quarter.

Fixed broadband subscriptions  equal to or greater than 30 Mbps accounted for 29.9 per cent up from 19.6 per cent in the second quarter last year.

The report also found that within the mobile sector, voice and SMS revenues are decreasing while mobile data revenues are increasing.

    Loved the first season – had so much going for it with the cast involved. Colin Farrell is a great actor but has made some awful choices in the movies he’s made- fingers crossed this will get him back on track. Top marks for the Tache!!!

    This series has a lot to live up to. Rust and Cohle were bloody great and Carcosa was an excellent story. Long live these great TV shows, because everything else on the box is cack!!!
