'Breaking Bad? Oh that's great stuff': TDs talk TV at another Seanad photo-op

Fine Gael’s Richard Bruton and Eoghan Murphy discussed the hit television show as they held another Seanad referendum photo-op in Dublin today.

SPENDING ALL YOUR time telling people to vote Yes in the Seanad referendum can be a bit tiresome so Fine Gael Minister Richard Bruton and TD Eoghan Murphy chatted about television instead today.

Just kidding, there was a bit of chat about the referendum as Fine Gael unveiled a placard outside the Norwegian embassy on Dublin’s Molesworth Street to highlight how Ireland is apparently overrepresented when it comes to politicians.

Later as they carried the placard back to Leinster House (or at least to end of Molesworth Street before they passed it off to handlers) the Minister wanted to know if Murphy had seen Breaking Bad.

Murphy not only admitted that he hadn’t seen the Emmy-award winning series, he also hadn’t seen The Sopranos or The Wire.

Surely that is more troubling than Ireland having a third more national poiticians than any other European country of our size?

No wonder people are voting no they don’t want to be associated with the muppets running the yes camp.
You don’t abolish an organ of state based on numbers, I guess they are meant to clap like seals and smile and nod for those insulting ”less politicians” posters? Treating the electorate like dribbling morons that’s a great strategy to get them to see your point of view.

    Idiots.

The substance of the argument is wrong. They ignore that nordic countries have large amounts of powerful local politicians. 1% of adult population in Sweden are politicians. In Ireland it’ll be 0.035% (after this government’s changes).

No need to let facts get in the way of a good photo op, tough.

Faced with a long afternoon trapped in the house with her five children last Saturday, Mrs Walton decided on a quick excursion – a trip to Nairobi’s popular mall.

It’s the only place I can post an opinion.
