100 elves wanted to make Christmas in Carlow

Fancy wearing an elf costume for a while?

THERE ARE STILL 11 and a half weeks to Christmas but Santa has already started planning his around-the-world trip.

And he needs some help.

Rathwood in Tullow are looking for 100 elves for seasonal work in its Santa Train experience over the coming months.

And don’t worry if you’re not experienced. A dedicated Elf Academy has been established to give “intensive training” to the successful applicants.

The Santa Train experiences opens in the middle of next month and runs seven days a week until Christmas Eve.

Last year, 35,000 people visited the attraction and 29,500 tickets have already been sold for this year’s event.

“Christmas is always a very special time at Rathwood and this year we have made our Santa’s Train experience extra special adding lots of new surprise features this year” said James Keogh, MD of Rathwood, a family business founded in 1994 which includes retail stores, a garden centre and other amenties.

“We are looking to recruit fun, enthusiastic and outgoing Santa’s Elves to ‘The Elf Academy’ to help Santa and Mrs. Claus meet and greet all the children who will visit. Successful Elf-licants will be trained in the ELF to Z of Christmas magic as they will need to ensure a magical Christmas experience for children, each of whom will receive their own special gift from Santa.

“A number of high calibre Christmas positions will be created for Elf-licants such as Head of Surprises and Head of Christmas Magic, sure to boost Elf-esteem and Christmas spirit at Rathwood. We want dedicated Elves who love the magic of Christmas and are committed to helping families create wonderful Elf-tastic Christmas memories.”

Amazing how little understanding or support for the disability community shown by the posters on here.
Actually it is not when I think about it.
Usual Ableist comments from people with not an ounce of empathy!

The question Peadar and the minister for transport minister need to be asking is how are 6 people at present advertising on donedeal that they have (4)251 WAV taxis soon to be here for €375 per week. How did these manage to get numerous grants in others names and then fleece lads who want to be taxi drivers….

Existing taxi drivers with plates are now cashing in on the ridiculous situation created by idiots in NTA and DOT.
They have started to rent their plates out for €6000 per year on donedeal(check if don’t believe me) and are then applying for new WAV license for €175 and this means even more people applying for the WAV grant.
The 6k per year pays for the new car minus grant over 5/6 years

The NTA should abolish the 10 year rule as this is a big strain on drivers to scrap perfectly good cars and have to spend 40k plus replacing them.

    @Thomas Brophy: Other taxi drivers?
Grant is open to all taxi drivers. The older drivers are the lucky ones who can avail of the €25k grant for a new electric vehicle. Put a brand new Tesla on the road for €25k after grant and spend €6 a night charging rather than dragging a dirty diesel around and spending €30 a day.
