We used to play pool on one boat I was on, ye scored if you could hit any ball with the cue ball and lost points if ye spilled yer beer when the boat hit a bump.

Jasus fell into the canal off my bike at that spot. D’ya remember the little shop between there and Maryland?

Or the corner of Robert St – Rainsford St at the Guinness Clock and the hot pan. Or the back of the pipes at the steel bridge end. Had great view from under that bridge, they should never have drained out the canal

That clock was over where some of the workers clocked in and out and there was always an oul nun there of pay-day :-) The little shop that was kinda set back from the road at Jamse’s walk? Just along from there on Long Street lived the keating family, all played Irish music and a bit further down was another shop[front room of a house] where we got our sweets if anyone had a few coppers. Those little trains in the brewery were a curse, remember the tracks set into the road? lethal for bikes.

Then The Canal Shop beside Kennedy’s pub…Katie Donoghues facing the flats, she made a fortune from Guinness employees and O’Briens on Marrowbone Lane…. 3 pubs 3 shops all within 100yds only the Brewery Bar left. Were great times around that area

ALL of those little shops and pubs would fit into that truck and yet people made a living from them. I’d love to drive around in one just to p*** off the greenies.

Fantastic memories – I’m one of the O’Brien’s from O’Brien’s shop in Marrowbone Lane, I really, really miss the place, time and atmosphere :) x
