1. #HEALTH SERVICE: Health chiefs don’t think they can present a detailed service plan for next year without making massive cuts to services, more than has ever been implemented before, reports The Sunday Business Post.

2. #STORM: Met Eireann has issued a weather warning as storm Jude approaches with some ferries cancelled.

3. #MATERNITY: Minister James Reilly has written a letter to the HSE and HIQA to insist recommendations issued following an investigation into the death of Tania McCabe six years ago are implemented.

4. #SPYING: The US may have been monitoring German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile phone since 2002, reports Reuters.

5. #MARRIAGE EQUALITY: Speaking at the Labour Youth Conference, Eamon Gilmore said there would be a referendum “before the end of the lifetime of this government” on same-sex marriage, stating he would like to have it next year.

6. #ROMA COMMUNITY: A formal complaint has been lodged against the HSE, the gardaí and RTE by a leading immigration lawyer, accusing the bodies of incitement to hatred, writes The Sunday Independent.

7. #IBRC: Former top managers at IBRC, formerly Anglo Irish Bank, are to sue the specialised liquidators of the nationalised bank for unfair dismissal, reports The Sunday Times.

8. #SMOKING: Some cigarette firms are lobbying retailers to say no to plain cigarette packaging, writes The Sunday Times.

9. #BACK TO BED: You did remember that the clocks went back last night, not forward – meaning, if you got up thinking it’s 10am, you can go back to bed for another hour.

    @Ray Dunne: there are 32 counties in Ireland. The term “island of Ireland” makes no geographical sense as Ireland comprises a number of islands

    Pardon my ignorance, but perhaps someone can tell me what exactly is Geo Blocking?
    How does it work?

    And if someone has an aerial, then…
    …well, how does it work?

    And who does this GeoBlocking?
    The broadcaster (e.g. RTE)?
    Or the authorities in GeoBlocked affected areas?
