GARDAÍ HAVE IDENTIFIED the teenage girl who was found in a distressed state at the GPO last month and will now be working closely with Australian Police as investigations continue.
Gardaí had earlier today released an image of the girl to help with their investigations but this evening have said that, with the assistance of the public, they are now following a definite line of inquiry.
As well as working with Australian Police Gardaí say they will continue to work with the HSE to “finalise the matter”:
“Gardaí wish to sincerely thank the public and the media for their assistance. They also wish to inform them that no further assistance is required at this time.”
Australian Federal Police say they are currently working to establish the nature of contact with the Garda Síochána on the matter and will be seeking clarification from their offices in London on this.
The girl speaks very little English and is currently in the care of the HSE.

In our Google mapped world it’s easy to forget that there are still pockets of humanity who are so far removed from the modern world.
You see overhead shots of them occasionally. It’s fascinating to think about how they process things like helicopters and drones, in communities almost completely closed off from modern machinery and tech. Their first time seeing such things must be so overwhelming and confusing. It makes you think of the famous Arthur C. Clarke quote: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”.
How would you even begin to process such things when you live in a world almost completely cut off from any of the advances in the last few hundred years? How would they even begin to process a huge tech filled metropolis? Fascinating stuff.

@Mick Hyland: It’s pretty funny (despite him being an idiot) that he decided a can of Diet Coke was the thing to bring as an offering. Maybe it was inadvertently a good choice as a symbol of modern living. American no-sugar-sugar-water, chemically sweetened, to help people lose weight in a world of highly processed corporate food. I’d imagine they’d get ill if they drank it. He could have brought them a sugar sub from Subway too while he was at it!
