Is it just me or would we be better served if the garda put their efforts and resources into crimes like burglary.. It’s gone past ridiculous the amount of theft that’s going on.

Not only break ins but from what happened in Dublin today with the girl getting slashed in the face by a junkie there should be focusing more on the harder drugs and sorting them out. What criminals goes out to buy weed for god sake?

That’s what happened in England not too long ago. The Met told the government they weren’t bothered dealing with people over personal amounts of weed anymore, rather than the government telling the police. But once the police marked their line in the sand the government were left with little choice but to downgrade it or else appear to lose control. A bit mutinous, but then the cops are the ones who see the realities so perhaps they need to be listened to more.

The cops in UK have far too much autonomy though, and England has turned in to a police state moreso than most in EU.

There are hundreds of grow houses, and thousands of people growing their own weed. And the amount of people growing their own is rocketing, and has been for the last 5 years in particular.

Bloody waste of time and resources nicking people for such a mild ‘drug’.

While I don’t personally give a shit if someone smokes weed, as long as it’s illegal the guards and the law have to act. There is the problem that some people are susceptible to its effects such as mental health problems the same as people who smoke tobacco and drink alcohol are susceptible to illnesses and cancers too. Let the people be educated to the risks and if they want to consume let it be an informed lifestyle decision.

Such a waste of resources and ruining this yoing man’s name for life, for something safer than beer ffs. Legalisation and regulation needs to happen, drugs are there and always will regardless of the law so why not tax the stuff like beer and cigs? Ignorance thats why.

If he was running a pub you could say the same thing.
All that alcohol couldn’t possibly be for personal use. Yet he would be destroyed more lives selling drink than cannabis.

I wonder if Ming had moved to regulate heroin would we have the cops pull their fingers out ?
It’s all cannabis raids , it’s like the State want us to take heroin instead of cannabis ; it reminds me of the OPium wars ; I wonder if the Queen of England still approves of her family tradition of forcing heroin on other countries ?

There maybe a lot of seizures but unless they literally burn West Cork and the Wicklow mountains and 8 or 9 other hotspots out if existence, I wouldn’t be expecting any national weed droughts.

The sooner the better cannabis is legalised and these sort of operations are reduced or non existent. Most of them are in rented premises and as a previous landlord, I know that the amount of damage done to a premises by this sort of thing runs into tens of thousands and you have no come back. We need to cop on to the reality here, we rarely see arrests for alcohol manufacture as it’s readily available and controlled.

It was a pretty common practice in the states for the police to use the Infrared camera on the helicopters to look for houses that stand out, basically glowing like the sun in comparison to the other houses. Pretty much what’s happening here.

@SilentFugitive This is not the case in my experience, tenant had a 4K bill run up with ESB and once regular (small) payments were made they didn’t care as they knew they would chase landlord for outstanding amount so basically they didn’t care. It might be different now though
