A 34-YEAR-OLD MAN is being detained after Gardaí seized heroin and cannabis during a search of a house in Athlone.
Gardaí searched the house at Cherryfield Avenue this morning as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the area.
There they found heroin worth an estimated €3,150, cannabis resin with an estimated street value of€1,500 and cannabis herb worth an estimated €640. A number of mobile phones, a weighing scales and some cash were also seized at the scene.
The man was arrested at the scene and is being held at Athlone Garda Station.

Sad to know the guy selling you the cannabis also sells heroin. Can I not get my cannabis from a safe, sustainable, organic supply?
Heroin is a notorious gateway drug. He was probably just working up the courage to do a j the poor man.

Stephen, they are grouped together because they were found together. What do you suggest The Journal do? Write two separate stories about two drug seizures as if they were unrelated so the pro cannabis brigade can still preach about its merits. Unless of course you were being sarcastic that is!
I don’t think the cannabis should be in the headline at all! Mention it in the main text if you must, but don’t align it with heroin. But perhaps I am nit-picking a bit.
