The road deaths are going up because there is less of a Garda presence on the roads.. I drive a taxi at night in Dublin and checkpoints are nearly non existent these days. A few years ago when Gardai were been paid overtime to man checkpoints they were everywhere, nowadays there are hardly any. Drivers are taking more chances and unfortunately the rise in road deaths shows this is the case..

David its easy to blame the NRA, Dept Transport, Gardai or any other group but the fact is we are all adults and have to take responsibility for our own actions on the road. The whole “we only do it cause theres no Guards around” mentality is childish and if thats the way someone thinks they are not mature enough to be driving.

It may be immature but it’s the stark reality. Drive around Dublin and check out the pub car parks, their all starting to get full again. There are very few drink driving check points these days. Gatso vans are on the usual safe roads, and you could drive around at night without encountering a Garda car..

Taxi drivers are the worlds worst, the think they their licence gives the them the right to do u turns over single lines, brake the speed limit in bus lanes, constant switching lanes without warning, they think the indicator gives them the right of way. always driving over single lines and very aggressive towards other road users.

    May he rest in peace.

That picture is where the two young men lost their lives after crashing a mini in Hartstown. I dont think that picture is related to the story and it will only bring sorrow to the families and friends of the two young men.
