Colchester Zoo via Facebook

A wolf has escaped from a zoo in Essex

Uh oh.

POLICE AND ANIMAL experts are currently trying to locate and recapture a lone wolf that escaped from a zoo in Essex earlier today.

Essex police confirmed they were assisting staff from Colchester Zoo in the task about an hour ago.

At the same time, the animal was spotted and an area has been contained. It is understood  the wolf is sheltering in thick undergrowth.

Two of its companions were shot dead after escaping their enclosure earlier.

In a brief statement on Twitter, the zoo said: “Please note a full explanation/report will be given in due course after conclusion of the events please bear with us at this difficult time.”

In a separate statement to the BBC, a spokesperson added:

Colchester Zoo’s keepers have been devastated by the loss of two of their beloved timber wolves.

“Wolves are naturally timid and provided they are not cornered in any way do not provide a risk to the public,” she concluded.

Then why did the erect a large eFlow electronic sign on the M8 before the Glanmire exit? It’s been there a year or more now but never seems to have any message on it. Wait for a toll to be put in place maybe?

I was only in the traffic for one and a half hours for what would normally be at 15 – 20 minute journey but it sounds like I was lucky and that was between 7 – 8:30. One thing that jumped out at me : I went thru one of the busiest routes in the city from town into Douglas and I didn’t see one single guard directing traffic at the busy junctions. NOT ONE. The problem was the traffic lights were still in running and yet the whole place is at a standstill. Plenty of Guards to catch you doing 5-10 kms over speed limit on a stretch of road that is practically accident free tho WTF??? Not good enough.,

Transport or transportation is the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another. Modes of transport include air, rail, road, water, cable, pipeline and space. The field can be divided into infrastructure, vehicles and operations. Transport is important because it enables trade between persons, which is essential for the development of civilizations.( Thanks Wiki)

Possibly because I’ve heard that the councils are allocated a set amount for roadworks. I think they tend to keep some in reserve for any unforseen repairs, however come the end of the year of the budget is not used then it gets cut the following year, hence you will see a lot of road works in December to use up what’s left.

Jenni, well it appears that the road system is equally as poor here, whenever there’s as much as a shower it grinds to a halt. What cork needs is an integrated public transport system deserving of the great city that cork is. The govt have let it down time and time again and tonight when all the mothers and fathers finally make it home from work after paying their taxes for the “running” of the state I hope they spend a few minutes asking themselves who they’d like to see running their city, the same tired old faces or something new and fresh.

There was no flooding in the tunnel
The left lane between Mahon and the tunnel entrance had a small flood
There was an NRA truck with an arrow directing traffic in to the right Lane and. Traffic cones in place

    Not
A sign of a pump or a fire brigade to pump the water into the fields or a Guard to direct the traffic
Nobody from Cork County Council either
    Simply appalling,
Miles and miles of traffic backed up and no assistance whatsoever
