Yes esb, no hse. Healthcare relies on people who care about people. Who don’t have a profit motive. And you will never satisfy demand since we don’t live long enough no matter what. Whereas electrici is a commodity good. And, I don’t think Michael o Leary would run a 120,000 person 14b euro business for 200k a year. Esb pays a lot more, for less. Strike? Get a grip lads.

Its amazing what some people believe. I actually hugely respect the guy, he is a marketing genius. Him collecting tickets isnt him doing the job because say someone called in sick and he went down to helpout. It is a publicity operation that creates a visual presence so people talk about him or report him/ the brand. (Which he has successfully done here with social media) He actively seeks free publicity from the media as a method of advertising. SR Technics fisco was a major sucess too. It was well know in the industry that Ryanair were going to Prestwick anyway and he told the press the government would negotiate with him. Knowing the public feeling about FF gov at the time, he knew that there would be huge media coverage over jobs being lost due to perceived government incompetence. In the end alll he did was get the hopes of the SR Technics staff up that they would have a job and create free advertising. They go fired and people think O’Leary/Ryanair cares a bout the little guy. Marketing genius.

About 3 or 4 years ago I was in Murcia airport in Alicante if memory serves me right. Murcia was an army base and I think Ryanair managed to get permission to use it for landing as far as I can remember.

So, there I was minding my own business in the middle of nowhere, and along comes Michael with photographers, pretty young ones and young fellas handing out e50 notes to people all over the shop as a Ryanair promo.

Can’t remember the promo off hand but it was “we’re e50 cheaper that xxxx for the same flight” type thing.

The likers are usually well informed
The dislikers are always from the endemic bunch of begrudgers who wait in the shadows for the opportunity to winge about a successful business man
I’m neutral but am eternally amused by the vitriol this topic always produces with both sides slugging it out to see who is right

Any time Journal.ie wants to generate hits they just wheel out MOL/Ryanair. Never fails. You’re buying a service from an airline, not bidding to be MOL’s best mate/worst enemy. Ryanair does what it does very well and recent changes have only improved the offering.
Don’t like it or him ? Don’t buy a ticket; find some other way to travel and shut up. Nobody really cares about the infantile bleating and it reflects very poorly on the nation.
At least MOL is high visibility. CEO’s of most other airlines are invisible and the vast majority on here couldn’t even name them, let alone recognise them at a check-in desk.
