THERE’S BEEN MORE than a few changes in Ireland over the past seven years and Christmas is no different.
Let’s take a quick look at Christmas 2006 compared to how we plan to party for this year’s festive period.
Unsurprisingly we’re spending 25 per cent less on Christmas in general and the poor Christmas tree décor is barely getting a look in.
Back in 2006, 30 per cent of us were spending between €100 and €199 on decorations alone, but this year 65 per cent of us say it’ll be under €99.
To the all-important food and according to House and Home magazine, only 86 per cent of us will be tucking into the traditional turkey and ham feast this year compared to 92 per cent in ’06.
And as for the traditional Christmas mass…for 38 per cent of us, this will be the only religious ceremony we’ll attend for the year. So all that nagging from our Mammy’s didn’t quite pay off!
This survey was carried out on 577 people over the phone.

Can’t we just celebrate him for being himself and not because he is “like” someone else? He has done plenty on his own merit worthy of mention. He’s nothing like Mozart by the way.
