I used to work for an airline in Shannon airport – the scenes of families saying goodbye at departures and the ones welcoming home at arrivals never failed to have me bawling. You never get used to it – it’s what it all comes down to at the end of the day, that pure love for your family, distilled in airports. Bawling again now!!!

I accidentally watched half an episode thinking it would be like the RTE series, which was actually half decent.
But the TV3 one was just a bunch of saps waiting for relatives they hadn’t seen in a while a thick presenter asked bland questions.

This is the Queens address to you this Christmas. Welcome home to all the emigrants. I hope you have a happy Christmas. I want all of you to come back soon for a real Gathering. A Gathering where we will stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow Irish men and women who have ssuffered the pain of emigration, the hardship of finding ourselves in a land where noone cared about us, and the sorrow of knowing that if we went back home no one would want us, or care about us either, unless we had the few euros in our pocket and a story of success in the foreign country we emigrated to. Happy Christmas and think of those that went with you but who will never go home again. The casualties of the economic war that was waged when you were too young tto understand but you do now. Because this is the end of the days when anyone will want to be treated like that. Why would they? To keep the Banksters? To maaintain the Landowners and the Judges and the Politicians and ttheir bought and paid for Judiciary. You are right to be angry. Why should we ensure their living standard? It is not to our gain. Let it be their loss. Now is the time to stand up for ourselves. Now is the time to say No to the Banksters and their puppets. Now is the time to tell them to keep away from us. Now is the time to tell them we will not pay their bills for them. Tell them to pay their own bills, and get your drinks from the offie. Tell them to go to hell, because they sent us to there. Remember Cromwell and his cry. ,To hell or to connaught’. They said the same thing, in a slightly different way. ‘Emigrate or go to hell’. That is what Bertie and his buddies can do. That is what Mickey the Higgins can do. That is what Enda and Gilmost can do. But we can do better. They can emigrate just as easily as we can. Is that the truth or isn’t it? This land is your land, this land is my land from Mizen Head to Cobh Island. Give them hell lads.

Patricia, I totally agree with your sentiments but are wasted here, I myself will spend Xmas outta Ireland ( have stopped calling it home). And for before enda and all his cronies tell me it was a lifestyle decision or I am a traitor, I do still pay my taxes in irlande, in the shape of property tax, soon to pay water rates also but have no voice there. Merry Christmas to all emigrants no matter where you be and merry Christmas to all in irlande
