VIDEO: Christmas Day crowds queue up to leap into the icy waters at the 40 Foot

Patrick Maye, Chris Maye and Justin Kinehan made this video of yesterday’s chilling experience.

WHILE SOME OF us were tucked up in bed on Christmas morning or sitting by a warm fire, it’s become a Christmas tradition for some to leap off into the freezing waters of the 40 Foot in Dublin.

Bravery

This video by Patrick Maye, Chris Maye and Justin Kinehan documents yesterday’s chilling dip in the sea.

The numbers taking part in this Christmas Day swim have soared over the years, with the video showing how people now have to queue up in their togs and Santa hats to take that leap into the icy waters.

“Nothing is more refreshing than a Christmas Day swim in The 40 Foot in Dublin,” said the brave video-makers, and with air temperatures at 3 degrees Celsius and water temperature at 7 degrees Celsius, the boys deserve that bowl of hot soup they’re seen digging into at the end.

Well done to all the brave souls who decided to take the plunge yesterday. You’re braver than most!

Er, a Swedish trademark gives you exclusive rights in Sweden, and then only for the specific classes of goods and services you apply for. If you want pan EU rights, you need an EUTM, which costs a lot more than €370.

@Ben McArthur: true true. But still a clever idea. I think it’s about €25k plus for a European patent. I have one on the word “cosrfhgafesfull”

@Paul Mc Manus: €370 too much it’ll be forgotten about in a week.

Amazing scoop. For a president the media loves to hate, they’re sure getting good miles to the gallon.

How is it savvy to have a trademark on something everyone will have forgotten by next week?

@Paul Mc Manus: remember the guy who TM’d ’21st Century Fox’. That was worth a try, … but Fox just rebranded their old logo.

Try ‘fecoffee’ next time. It means to have a coffee and to feck off at the same time. It’s copyright, by the way.
