Going, going, almost gone...most of the country waking up to a calm morning

However, Met Éireann predicts unsettled weather over the next seven days.

ALTHOUGH THERE WILL still be some residual showers today, most of the country will be treated to a brighter, drier day than we’ve seen in the past 48 hours.

Met Éireann says there is risk of heavy and frequent showers in parts of the west and norther but it will be dry elsewhere.

A cool day, temperatures will max out at between five and seven degrees.

Fortunately, the winds are expected to be just light to moderate and the sun shall make an appearance at times.

Looking ahead, the weather is to remain unsettled over the next seven days. Tomorrow will bring rain that will be heavy and spread eastward during the afternoon. The wind will also pick up to moderate and gusty.

As the country recovers from the storm, travel and transport networks return to normal.

Irish Rail has reopened Pearse Station and is operating an almost-normal schedule with just a few tweaks.

Flights have also been departing Dublin Airport as usual but passengers should still check with their airlines before travelling.

The strong winds and rain from st. Stephens night has left a terrible residue on the windows of our house and on the car windscreen! Anybody know why this is??

I noticed that too..huge amounts of crap on the windows. Quite unusual, I was wondering did the storm pick up some volcanic dust on it’s way..
