A coach with balls and well in with Mrs. Thatcher: The week in quotes

“It shows contempt for the whole process of accountability and transparency… It is an attempt, in my opinion, to hide something.”

IT’S BEEN A week of Christmas messages, state paper revelations and (if you can cast your mind back all the way to Monday) more twists in the salary top-ups controversy.

Here’s what people have been saying:

Nothing. That’s the problem with many gov depts, they only react to problems, never actually go looking for chancers like Paul Kelly. It costs more in the long term to sort out the fallout and it also encourages other miscreants to try and do the same. We never progress, same sheeite over and over again.

The HSE have been actively investigating for years but they didn’t seem to have the guts or the willingness to pull the plug on the whole sham

The problem is Revenue and the Charity Regulatory Authority has very little legislative power to go after charities. The other issue is the cost of the investigation would in many cases be far greater than any penalties imposed.

Another chancer who get off with a ban from being a director of a charity or registered company and thats it. What kind of a lesson would a proper punishment send out to our white collar criminals, white collar crime must be encouraged.

Can’t figure why background checks are not done on top people in Charities; they are done on all the workers. If Charities get Public funding why are there not proper checks on them. I blame the HSE and Governments. Someone has to be responsible here. All Charities should be scrutinised.

Is there any independent monitoring body that looks into these charities, if not then, it’s high time there was. It would appear that the HSE and other funding Agencies are reluctant to look under the carpet and see what might be questionable.

An air of confidence will get you anywhere, thst a sharp dress sense to make people think yiu can be trusted. Originally known as confidence tricksters the phrase was shortened to con man. I feel really sorry for genuine people who put their heart and soul into charity and seek no reward. The bledding hearts we have in society and the crooked phuqs in high society that Kelly has dirt will see he goes unpunished.
