PSNI officer slashed in the face with a stanley knife

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after the incident in Belfast.

A 16-YEAR-OLD has been arrested in Belfast for allegedly slashing a PSNI officer in the face with a stanley knife.

The incident occurred when officers were called to the Crumlin Road area of the city after reports of an assault.

While attending the scene the police officer received injuries to his face by what the PSNI describe as a stanley type knife.

A 16-year-old male was arrested for wounding with intent and for possession of an offensive weapon. He is currently being questioned by police.

The injured officer has been taken to hospital for treatment, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
