Taoiseach and Jobs Minister head to Gulf for 'ambitious' trade mission

They will be accompanied by representatives from almost 90 companies, visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

SAUDI ARABIA, QATAR and the United Arab Emirates are all on the agenda for the government’s first trade mission of 2014, designated ‘the year of jobs’.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs Richard Burton depart today for the Gulf region, aiming to strengthen “economic, political and cultural ties with these key priority markets for Ireland” on trip that lasts until January 9th.

The Taoiseach described the trade mission as “highly focused and ambitious”. He also plans to meet with representatives from the Irish communities in each of the three countries.

Joining them on the trip, which also aims to open up new commercial opportunities, will be over 100 senior executives hailing from 87 Enterprise Ireland client companies.

Minister Burton said he will be aiming for “tangible results” during the trip, adding that the region “offers huge opportunities for Irish business”.

Areas such as financial services and software, aviation, education, telecommunications, agrifood and construction have been highlighted as of particular interest to the visiting parties.

@P. V. Aglue: If it was, then it got out of control because of the extreme and prolonged heat making the forests parched.

No matter how any fire might start the consequences are exacerbated by the increase in Global temperature.
