Chinese man in hospital with confirmed case of bird flu

The WHO say that so far there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission.

THE WORLD HEALTH Organisation has confirmed that an elderly Chinese man has been infected with avian flu.

The 86-year-old man from Jiangsu on the eastern coast of China started to feel unwell while on a trip to Taiwan on 19 December.

He was then admitted to hospital on 24 December after being diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and the life-threatening acute respiratory distress syndrome.

He currently remains in hospital and is breathing with the help of a breathing tube.

The other members of the tour, except the man’s two daughters, have returned from the trip but none have shown any symptoms of infection.

The WHO say that so far there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission.

The bird flu strain identified in the ill man is the H7N9 strain with the WHO not as yet advising any special screening at points of entry as a result of the infection.

I save a few hundred every year by changing suppliers to whoever is offering the best introductory offer at that time. Five minutes is all it takes.
I do the same with broadband, phone and insurance. Now that I think of it, it’s nearly August. This year’s contract is almost up.

@Steve: Best way to choose a tariff is if your are a higher user in terms of units focus on a supplier with a lower unit rate. If your are a low unit user focus on the standing charge price.

Always make sure to get your annual consumption figures in terms of units off of your provider and use those figures generating a quote nothing else or else your quote will not be accurate.

So much people get caught out by not using annual consumption figures!

Somewhat unrelated but why does a broadband company get to charge full price for a very much reduced service to some of its customers – for example, €60 a month for 100mb and the customer is getting 80mb speeds on average, a few streets over another customer who is currently too far from the nearest cabinet is getting 5mb down but also paying €60 a month?

How is that justified by the consumer agencies?

(and yes the new cabinet has been “going in” for 2 years now and still no sign of it)
