Two-year-old boy seriously injured in Roscommon car crash

Gardaí are appealing for witness to the two-car collision.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses to a crash in Roscommon this morning in which a two-year-old boy was seriously injured.

The collision happened between two cars on the N5 at Currinah, Ballaghderreen at about 9am.

Two adults and three children were injured in the crash and were taken to Mayo General Hospital.

One of the children, a two-year-old boy who sustained serious injuries, has since been transferred to Temple St. Hospital. The injuries of the others involved are described as minor.

The scene has been examined by investigators but gardaí want anyone who may have seen the incident to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Castlerea garda station 094-9621630 or confidentially on 1800 666 111.

    Had nothing to do with speed Bruno, mother is 100% safe driver, accidents happen. The lil man will pull through this so thoughts and prayers for him from everyone xxx

    It may not have been the mothers fault but no accidents don’t happen. Someone is ALWAYS to blame, they may not be speeding but they may be travelling too fast to deal with the situation that’s developing in front of them or just not paying enough attention. This “accidents happen” line is steaming crock of sh!t.

    I passed the accident scene yesterday morning, the sun was right in the drivers eyes, just above the horizon. The road was also very wet and created a huge glare. Blinding is a complete understatement. Take this into account whilst approaching temporary traffic lights on what is normally quite a fast moving stretch of road. I think you are out of order Bruno.

    I wish the child well.
    The obvious question is – were the children wearing seat belts? Nobody ever wants to say this and I know I will get “blasted” for it but ……..
