Sewers checked for security breaches ahead of state visits

It’s a dirty job but someone’s go to do it…

SECURITY HAS BEEN ramped up across Ireland in anticipation of the visits of Queen Elizabeth and Barack Obama in May.

Earlier this month, residents and businesses located along the route to be travelled by the British monarch were questioned by gardaí as a part of security measures being enforced.

But, as we have learned today, the security doesn’t stop there: members of the gardai, Road Safety Authority and council workers have been checking the sewers for any potential threats to safety that may have been hidden underground…
