7 ways to save €150 by making one change

You’ll be rolling in it before you know it.

THINK OF ALL the things you could do with €150.

You could take a little trip, buy a little treat, put a little away for a rainy day.

It might be easier than you think to save that extra bit of cash. Here’s a few ways to do it by making just one change…

1. Ditch the barista

One treat from the coffee shop a day, five times a week, at €3 a pop… that’s €15 a week.

Bringing your own coffee in a flask or swanky insulated cup from home every day could save you €150 in three months.

2. There’s an app for that

Even if you’re watching your phone bills like a hawk, chances are you use at least €20 a month to stay in touch.

Smartphone apps like WhatsApp and Viber can cut down on texts and calls eating into your credit. You could save €150 in less than eight months.

3. Made for walking

Take public transport to work every day but you could walk? Why not pound the pavement instead?

Spending about €30 a week on transport means you could make that €150 saving in just five weeks.

And there would be no more of this:

4. Taste test

If a premium brand can of soft drink is your favourite lunchtime treat you’re probably spending around a fiver a week.

Switching to a multipack supermarket brand could bring that down to around €1.70 a week. A few calculations later and you’re looking at saving €150 in around eleven months.

We bet you wouldn’t even spot the difference.

5. Card catalogue

If you’re an avid reader devouring books can be an expensive hobby. Two books a month will set you back at least €20.

The library is free! And in less than eight months you’ll have saved yourself that €150.

Maybe you could spend it on some vintage Famous Fives?

6. Masterchef

That takeaway you’re so fond of comes at a price… around €25 if there’s a pair of you in it once a week.

Learning how to make your favourite Chinese, Indian or Italian favourites at home could see you pocketing that money instead, saving €150 in six months (give or take a few ingredients).

7. At the car wash

Like to keep your motor looking swish by treating it to a couple of car washes at the local garage every month?

Do a DIY job on it, and you’re looking at saving at least €20 a month. Think of all the swanky air fresheners and seat covers you can buy with that €150!

Fair play. Technology is where the jobs are at. Substantial investment in adult education is required in this country to retrain the workforce away from construction & over to technology.

If they really give a good run at this they’ll be market leaders with such a head start that others will struggle to catch-up. And I’d hope they would also look at digital books and workbook for schools. Trail blazing all the way to the bank.
