1. #ARREST: A man in his 60s has died after sustaining serious head injuries in an incident at a Dublin flat after a row broke out. A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the case.

2. #STORMAGEDDON: Met Éireann has lifted the orange alert weather warning after winds of up to 130 km/hr hit parts of the country. RTE News reports that the total bill for recent flood damage so far is €100 million.

3. #ABORTION: The Sunday Times reports that Amy Dunne, the woman known as Miss D who was temporarily prevented from leaving Ireland to have an abortion when she was 17, is suing the HSE over the trauma she suffered. Dunne was in the care of the HSE when her foetus was diagnosed with anencephaly.

4. #SINN FÉIN: Gerry Adams has said left-wing parties and politicians need to unite to challenge the establishment political parties. In his keynote address at the Sinn Féin Ard Fheis last night, the party leader suggested a government without either Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael was possible.

5. #WEATHER: At least seven people have died and more than one thousand have been injured after the heaviest snow in decades fell in Tokyo and other areas of Japan. AFP reports more than 10 inches of snow fell in Tokyo on Saturday.

6. #LIMELIGHT: Independent TD Shane Ross has hit back at accusations from colleagues that he is looking for publicity over the penalty points isssue. Ross and several Government TDs are in dispute over whether testimony from the garda whistleblower should be made public.

7. #SAVED? An Irish medical group called RAS Medical has made an approach to buy Mount Carmel, the south Dublin hospital which closed with the loss of around 300 jobs, according to the Sunday Business Post.

8. #SAME-SEX MARRIAGE: The US is to give greater legal recognition to same-sex marriages after Attorney General Eric Holder said that the government had a role in “confronting discrimination”, the BBC reports.

9. #BYE BYE BIRDIE: The creator of the hugely successful game Flappy Bird has said he will take the game down today – but has not explained why. Dong Nguyen tweeted that he “cannot take this anymore” and ruled out suggestions that it was due to legal issues.
