FINE GAEL’S NEWEST recruit, Kenny ‘Kenneth’ Egan, launched his election campaign today as he bids to take a seat in the Clondalkin ward in May’s council elections.
The former boxer and Olympic silver medallist attracted plenty of attention at a media conference in Dublin earlier today.
Here’s his introductory video, courtesy of Fine Gael, where he states: “Everybody knows me as Kenneth Egan… ”
We also got a sneak peek at the leaflets he’ll be stuffing in letterboxes in the south Dublin suburb over the coming months.
As well as quite clearly ‘keeping it real’ Kenny tells us on the literature that he is running because he wants to make a difference in his local community.

Why should you vote for him?
Because he is “innovative, committed and hard working” and has a “proven track record” when it comes to sporting and community involvement.

Still, it’s always good to see people attempt to make a difference in their local communities. I’d take a Kenneth Egan over the nepotistic party cronies we’re usually landed with. So, I’ll reserve judgement on him.

12 months dry James. Either way, he’ll be back on the piss in no time. He’s likely looking for a sense of purpose right now, and politics won’t offer that. In actuality he’ll be promised some level of funding for sport in the locality, and then FG will pull the plug and he’ll be left standing there with his lad in his hand wondering where it all went wrong.
In political terms the boy is a featherweight and he’s not match fit for this, and may never be.
