A LAND AND sea search operation on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula in West Cork has been called off this evening, and is not expected to resume until Thursday morning, because of bad weather.
Two men went missing there at the weekend and while one body has been recovered, a search is ongoing for the second man.
A spokesperson for the Coast Guard told TheJournal.ie, “We hope to restart again on Thursday morning depending on the weather. The forecast is too bad for tomorrow.”
The men, who are both believed to be from the Netherlands, were reported missing after they failed to return home from a walk on Saturday.
One body was recovered from an “inaccessible location” by helicopter yesterday.
The men have been frequent visitors in the area and were staying in a house on the peninsula. The mother of one of the men reported them missing.
