IF YOU TUNED into RTÉ One television, you might have noticed something a little repetitive going on.
While RTÉ’s Prime Time should have been playing, viewers were treated to a loop of “Irish Ukrainians, not Russians” for around twenty minutes.
However, Managing Director, RTÉ News and Current Affairs Kevin Bakhurst explained that technicians had been working to be fix the problem but were unable to rectify it for some time.
Presenter David McCullagh quickly distanced himself from the loop:

Nothing wrong with the slip road it’s the idiots going to fast on it.
Being honest, for a driver not familiar with the area, it’s a terrible slip road to have linking to a motorway.
They are badly designed! They have had to shoehorn in the junctions, hence the ridiculously low speed limits. Those tight turns should have been built with a banked turn.
That slip road is treacherous, no doubt it’ll happen again. Absolutely terrible design.
People just don’t take the speed limits seriously on those slip roads, they’re 30km/h for a reason.
Not if you abide by the speed limit.

They’ll be another crash yet on the m50, everyone is slowing down to take a look at it…
Bad engineering. To have a slip road that requires a 30kmh limit amongst a road network that runs at 80, 100 and 120kmh is bad design and bad engineering. Its all too easy to underestimate the severity of that bend when you may have been cruising at 100 or 120kmh for some hours. Higher impact signage is required, for starters. Hope the driver is physisally unscathed.
He was coming off the nass rd which is 60 kph he just had to half his speed , poor driving and should have licence taken off him

Unless im mistaken, there are speed signs saying 30km on approach to this bend. Again, idiots driving too fast.
Never ceases to amaze me how so many people are possessed of the ability to conduct complex accident investigations from their keyboards.
Unless you’ve driven one of these trucks you can’t say he was driving too fast,maybe the trailers load shifted causing the vehicle to turn over , a truck can tip over at a lot less than 30 kph.

It’s not only that slip road were there is a problem but also the slip road for finglas and the one from the M50 going onto the M1 city bound.I have drove over in the UK and have never come across slip roads like the ones on the M50 and M 7. Also a truck can be flipped on its side travelling at 12km,Maybe the load inside the trailer shifted while the truck was going around the slip road.
The bigger issue here is how feckin long it takes them to remove it…..standing around gawking instead of coming up with a efficient emergency response to have it righted..
Know much about Artic driving Michael ? The load in the back could have shifted, he may have had brake fade…. loads of things could have happened that you obviously know nothing about.
Seems odd that a truck managed to keel over on it’s right side while going around a left-curving sliproad.

the quality of motorway ramps and exits are the worst in europe. why its possible to do very tight bends where you need to drive at 20 km/h from 100km/h on motorway. very bad design
