Recognise this relaxed, laid-back and groovy future Tánaiste?

Simpler days for a certain future Labour leader…

LAST WEEK WE brought you pictures of a young Labour senator back in the day when he wore beads and hung out with hippies in the Slieve Bloom mountains.

This week we bring you someone a little more recognisable and a little more laid-back then he probably is these days.

laid back eamon Irish Election Literature Irish Election Literature

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore didn’t have to worry about Labour’s Way or Frankfurt’s Way back in 1991, nor the latest controversy involving Alan Shatter.

Nope, times were pretty simple for Gilmore in 1991 as he urged voters to re-elect him and his Workers’ Party team onto Dublin City Council.

But his pose indicates that even if you didn’t he’d be totally cool with that. You know, whatever.

Here’s the leaflet in full:

    Thanks Eamon!

I’m amused at the second paragraph: “1985 – Fine Gael and Labour were in power. They introduced water charges and promised to reform Local Government. We’re still waiting.”
I guess that could still be on the local election posters..

    @ Roland 303

Totally agree with you. Labour will be gone in next election, the party missed the opportunity to stand up for the common man. We’re facing into a continued top-down structured economy with little concern for those in need. We need a conversation in Ireland to agreed what type of society we want. Seems to me, no matter who gets into power they forget that we are human beings and not economic beings!

Time for term limits to be introduced. Something like 10 years max. Get some new blood in there and chuck the dead wood. Any takers?
