Elderly woman saved from burning house

The woman was in her bed in her home on Eglington Road in Donnybrook when the fire broke out.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN was rescued from her bed early this morning by members of Dublin Fire Brigade.

A spokesperson for the Fire Brigade confirmed that a woman had been taken from a house fire on Eglington Road in Donnybrook this morning.

Witnesses on the scene say that the woman was taken from her house close to 7am this morning by fire fighters from Donnybrook and Tara Street fire stations.

She was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital after being treated at the scene. Her condition is described as stable.

    Regardless of training or equipment or anything else, it must take incredible bravery to enter a burning building. Well done

    Yeah it’s great alright. All home safe after a job like that. Fantastic skill required.
    Off topic. But Was expecting to read Garda hospitalised after entering burning building. Leave it to the pros.

    Was in St Vincent’s A&E when the woman was brought in. Not only are the fire fighters brave as already commented on. But the ambulance crew showed such kindness, sympathy and were so caring for her that all I could think was these are the guys that should be running the HSE ambulance service and not the proposed other way round

    The HSE ambulance crews are just as good as the DFB ones. The issue at the moment is about management not crews.
