POLICE IN DELAWARE in the United States are investigating allegations that a 22-year-old teacher had a sexual relationship with one of her students.
Detectives in the city of Dover said Stephanie Seabury turned herself in yesterday on one count of sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust or authority.
The charge stems from allegations that the English teacher at a middle school had sex with a 13-year-old male student who was in her class.
Dover Police Department said it was made aware of the incident on 12 March this year.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Seabury and the student had met on numerous occasions, during which Seabury would collect the victim at a prearranged location and then drive him to her residence at Woodmill Apartments in the city.
Detectives learned that, on or about 26 February, the teacher had sexual intercourse with the student at her home after driving him there at the end of the school day.
They retrieved CCTV footage of the pair leaving the school and walking towards her vehicle at about 3.48pm on 26 February.
The investigation also uncovered several explicit phone messages and photographs that were exchanged during the “inappropriate relationship”, police said in a statement.
Seabury was issued a $40,000 secured bond.
The school’s superintendent confirmed that she has been “suspended with pay since the initial report”.
“Upon learning of alleged inappropriate behavior of a Fred Fifer III Middle School (FMS)
teacher with a student, the Caesar Rodney School District immediately contacted the appropriate law enforcement agency,” Dr Kevin Fitzgerald said. “The district has since continued to work with law enforcement and the Attorney General’s office during their investigation.”
“The district will take the appropriate personnel action as dictated by state and federal regulations.”
A letter was sent to the parents of all children at the school and an offer of counselling for students made.

I agree Niall, but some 13 year olds look and act beyond their years and vice versa. Some first years look like they came out of 4th class and others look like they should be in 4th year. Actually the only countries in the EU with very low age of consent is I think Spain at 13, They are changing that to bring it in line with the rest of the EU.

Personally and I’m only speaking for myself here, three years ago when I was 13 it would have definitely affected me psychologically, in a extremely positive way. I’d have thought I was a young Hugh Heffner for months. Nobody seems to think about how delighted with himself young lad must feel, it’s all very PC here “think about how everyone would be if it was the other way round” sort of thing. I highly doubt any 13 year old lad would be unhappy with riding his young teacher.

But there are lots of cases where it’s a mutually consented relationship, and the boy tends to be pretty happy about it. People keep asking “what if it were the other way round?” The answer is that it would be completely different, because the girl would be in a far more vulnerable position.

Was just talking about this with some of my friends. If we were given the chance at 13 to get it on with a hot teacher we would have done it with open arms (pardon the pun). Sorry if that offends but that’s the way most lads think, whether they’ll admit it or not.
I was wondering if there is a flaw in my logic.
We have 12 year old boys and girls who are conceiving in this world. So they are sexual beings.
I’m not saying that the can consent to these actions, but biologically this is possible.
Since we have sexual beings in a workplace environment, shouldn’t we be observing their behaviours?
If someone observed these two in class they might have realized that something odd was happening, and been able to prevent it.
So do we want to install cameras in classrooms?
Does a teacher or a student have an expectation of privacy in a classroom?
Also, when a teenager is found committing a crime, lots of times people ask, “where’s the parents?”
Could the possibility that parents could be observing the students in their classrooms help with attendance and discipline in the classrooms? No teacher would consider having sex with a student while class is in session, but a student might consider not going to school.
Plus we could observe and diagnose psychological disorders early on, and like with any medical issue, the earlier we have a diagnosis, the earlier it could be treated.
Is it time for Cameras in the classrooms? Why is enforcement always the only option?
