A 100-CARAT YELLOW diamond sold for 14.5 million Swiss francs ($16.3 million,11.9 million euros) at auction in Geneva last night.
The 110.09 carat diamond went unsold at first, with the bids too low, before the Sotheby’s auctioneer unexpectedly announced that the diamond was going back under the hammer, explaining that there had earlier been some confusion over the currency displayed.
The sole bidder was a woman in the auction room who bought it for 14.5 million Swiss francs, which the auctioneer described as “a very good price”.
The pre-sale estimate had been €15-25 million.
The Graff Vivid Diamond is one of the largest yellow diamonds in the world, it’s colour is given as “daffodil yellow.”
Another highlight of the Geneva spring auction season will be today’s sale by Christie’s of “The Blue” a spectacular 13.22 carat diamond estimated to go for €21-25 million.

Waste of money, diamonds aren’t rare even rare. A mining company in South Africa called DeBeers realised they could be valuable with good advertising so they started a campaign to make them seem precious and rare and then had the idea that an engagement ring should be a diamond, they convinced other mining companies to control their release and even got Hollywood in on it (Diamonds are a girls best friend), so to sum up, diamonds may be precious and valuable, but they’re certainly not rare, whoever would pay this much for a piece of carbon is a fool

Who wants to read stories about Fine Gael now in fairness Saul? Some amount of shite gets published on this site and the people lap it up while leaving serious issues facing us at the wayside, dailyedge articles even get more views then most of the stories on here and it’s a sad indictment of what we as a people have become, the western world is spiritually sterile.
