Apple's original multi-coloured logo boards will be up for auction

And the bidding starts at $10,000 for those interested.

If you’ve some cash to burn and are interested in owning a piece of Apple history, two of the company’s old logos will be for sale in a fortnight’s time.

The multi-coloured Apple logos, which were originally located in the company’s headquarters, will be up for auction on 4th June.

Both signs were located on the exterior of Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California before they were removed in 1997. Despite some cracks and faded colours, the bidding for both signs will start at $10,000 (€7,289).

The larger sign is made of stiff foam while the smaller sign is made of fiberglass backed with metal. The two signs were taken down during this period and given to a longtime Apple employee.

The multi-coloured sign was the company’s logo from 1976 and was used for 22 years. The current monochrome logo replaced it in 1997.

According to Bonham, the auction house selling the signs, the company’s founder Steve Jobs requested that a bite would be taken out of it so that nobody would confuse it with a tomato.

Pair of w@nkers. Pity they can’t be given a massive invoice for their rescue. The rnli has enough trouble raising money without wasting loads of it on 2 morons like that.

The world is full of idiots, they should be made to pay for the costs of the operation plus a hefty donation to the RNLI

What I get from this story is that two young lads, with a sense of adventure, decided to build a boat and go fishing. I for one are glad they gave it a go, glad they were rescued and Hopefully they’ll be a little more safety conscious in the future.
