Have an eBay account? You need to change your password right now

The compromised database contained encrypted eBay passwords and other non-financial information.

EBAY IS ASKING all of its users to change their passwords after a cyberattack compromised one of its databases, resulting in user information being stolen from the site.

The database, which was compromised between late February and early March, included eBay customers’ names, encrypted password, email address, physical address, phone number and date of birth.

However, the database did not contain financial information or other confidential personal information nor was there any evidence of unauthorised access or compromises to financial or credit card information.

The company said the compromised database was first detected about two weeks ago and
is currently investigating the situation with law enforcement and security experts.

It said the hackers compromised a small number of employee log-in credentials, allowing them unauthorised access to eBay’s corporate network.

In a statement on its PayPal Forward site, the company says that “extensive forensic research has shown no evidence of unauthorised access or compromise to personal or financial information for PayPal customers.”

Despite this, it has also recommended users who use the same password on other sites to change them as well.

The company says that it will provide more details for users on both its PayPal Community blog and eBay blog within the next 24 hours.

Apparently a lot of Western horror movies are based on them. And a lot scarier.

Ringu is a must see for horror fans. The Ring is pretty poor in comparison, though I do like it on its own merits. The Hunger Games is a complete copy of Battle Royale. BR is a great film, as are the sequels. It’s the Hunger Games for adults, with actual realistic violence and a gritty storyline of young kids being forced into an ‘arena’ of sorts against one another, without the soppy love triangle to make it palatable for the PG-13 crowd.

The Japanese/Korean originals of Western horrors are always 10 times better. Would recommend any horror fan to go look them up!

There’s an excellent Japanese movie called “like father like son” about two boys switched at birth accidentally. Worth a watch.

I’ve been saying this for years! Far more subtlety than the American crap where everything has to be laid out for the viewer. Beautifully shot too :)

No offense to any Japanese readers but my experience of Japanese movies is that they are mostly insanely weird and don’t make a lot of sense. Anyone ever seen Itchy the Killer for example, mind boggling stuff. Plus there’s definitely a pattern whereby their movies end with some bizarre twist that must only make sense to Japanese viewers.

*Ichi The Killer – couldn’t resist. Fantastic film. But all Japanese cinema is not like that! Expand your viewing a little!
