RTÉ want to get you drunk and put you on TV

They say it’s all in the name of science.

A NEW SCIENCE based TV show is going to explore what happens to us when we get drunk.

RTÉ says the show “will put our commonly held perceptions and beliefs about alcohol under the microscope”.

The programme called ‘Drunk’ will invite volunteers to drink alcohol in front of the cameras and then take on a range of “specially designed tasks”.

It will aim to “explore, explain and illustrate the effect of drinking on the body and mind”.

The series will “focus on facts and evidence, providing answers to a very wide range of questions”.  Such as:

  • How exactly does alcohol effect us – in the short and long term?
  • What does it do to our motor skills?
  • Why do we get hangovers?
  • Do beer goggles really exist?
  • Is it a bad idea to mix your drinks?
  • How does alcohol affect your emotions, your judgement or your sex life?

RTÉ warns that:

This series may not stop you from sending embarrassing drunken texts but it will help you understand why you did it!

It will be presented by Eoghan McDermott and broadcast later this year on RTÉ Two.
