Cork Lord Mayor involved in car crash just hours after losing her seat

Catherine Clancy is the second Labour Lord Mayor to lose their seat.

CORK LORD MAYOR Catherine Clancy has been injured in a two car collision close to the city centre.

The incident occurred at the junction of Pearse and Lough Road in Cork at 4am.

Both drivers and three passengers involved in the incident were brought to Cork University Hospital.

However, their injuries are not thought to be serious.

The former councillor lost her seat last night in the sixth and final count, and became the second Labour Lord Mayor to do so.

Dublin’s Oisín Quinn failed to be re-elected yesterday afternoon.

Clancy, sister-in-law of Junior Minister Kathleen Lynch, became a member of Cork City Council in 2003, and held her seat for more than a decade until last night.

Sympathies on your accident Lord Mayor but it was no mere accident that you were voted out.

The electorate were incensed by your apparent arrogance while in office, from approving a massive pay-hike for yourself to doing little to nothing in resolving the ongoing housing crisis in your city whilst effortlessly alienating your fellow citizens. Your office costs the good people of Cork an average of 92c per person versus Dublin’s Mayor equivalent of 13c per person (based on constituents).

I do hope your personal recovery is swift but that your political recovery is less so.

The power of the ballot box Ms Clancy….never underestimate the electorate.

Think she was released from hospital but her driver was detained. Other driver suffered a fractured leg. Thankfully no serious injuries.

It took a local radio show to get businesses to donate money to repair the Shannon clocks before the council and Clancy decided were embarrassed here and decided to pay to get them restored and you wouldn’t mind she’s from that area of cork, yet in hard times for people of the city she takes a pay rise

It mirrors the Foney Gael – Slave Labour coalition a two vehicle head on collision. I hear she swerved to avoid the Fianna Fail bandwagon full of s**t! It’s hard to know who’s to blame but it’s one of the above!
