VIDEO: Ireland's best skateboarder turns Dublin into his own park

Keith Walsh returned to his hometown recently – and tore it up.

HOW MANY LOCATIONS did you recognise?

Professional skater Keith Walsh returned to his home city earlier this month, using Dublin’s landmarks and streets as his skatepark for the afternoon.

The day’s play brought this excellent tribute to his birthplace.

Walsh grew up in the O’Devaney Gardens flats, off Dublin’s North Circular Road, and could usually be seen around the estate on his board.

Over the past few years, he has gained international attention, tearing up competitions in Europe, Florida and other exotic locations.

The young talent’s rise hasn’t been without difficulty. So far, he’s broken his hip, his wrist, some of his ribs and he “doesn’t know if he had a broken foot or not but it was definitely f**ked up”.

I seen the footage and my foot wasn’t there (demonstrates with his hands a stomach-turning twist of where his foot landed) it was there and my body was straight. I was doing a noseslide and and an ollie heelflip out over a drain.

“I landed it before so I thought I’d got it and there were these girls behind me so I was like, ‘yeah, come on, go for it!’ So I went for it but the board went a little bit slower so that when jumped off my foot caught the end of it and spun round… yeah, that was a bad one.”

Walsh’s plan is to be the “best skateboarder ever” and believes America is the place to fulfill that dream.
